Project Team Position Descriptions

 

We're currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill positions for the 2015-2016 Changing the Lens project.  The project team is essential to the success of the overall project.  The team oversees recruitment of workshop participants, communications with campus collaborators and the logistics of the final performance.  Getting involved will expose you to excellent learning opportunities and give you a flexible platform to develop essential skills.  Training and a transition report will be provided for successful applicants! PROJECT DIRECTOR

The Project Director oversees the Changing the Lens Project, initiates planning of the year's activities and is responsible for the final report.

 

Responsibilities:

- Outline and plan agendas for team meetings while keeping overarching goals and deadlines in mind

- Participate in all aspects of data collection and research (administering surveys, analyzing data)

- Collaborate with team to develop project themes, taglines and overall project objectives

COMMUNICATIONS

The Communications Coordinators (2) focus on internal team communications/bonding, and reaching out to campus collaborators to discuss opportunities and explain the project.

 

Internal Responsibilities:

- Foster a strong sense of community within the team by organizing team activities/bonding events

- Keep members up to date and informed through scheduled meetings and distribution of minutes

 

External Responsibilities:

- Liaise and maintain communication with UBC Players' Club and CTL supporters

- Discuss project principles and possible ways to work with potential collaborators

PERFORMANCE
COORDINATOR

 

The Performance Coordinator oversees all aspects of the project related to the final performance - from the performers, to the Joker to the logistics.

 

Responsibilities:

- Participate in the interview/screening process for workshop applicants

- Act as Stage Manager by attending workshops and rehearsals to assist the Joker

- Organize the logistics (hire staff, order food, enlist volunteers) for the overall smooth running of the final performance.

TREASURER

The Treasurer ensures financial transparency by involving all members of the team in the management of Changing the Lens finances

 

Responsibilities:

- Develop budget alongside the Project Director

- Work closely with UBC Players' Club Treasurer to secure reimbursements

- Seek out additional funding opportunities (such as grants or fundraising)

 

PROMOTIONS &
MARKETING

 

The Promotions & Marketing Coordinators (2) promote Changing the Lens across the campus and in the public forum for recruitment purposes and for the final performance.

 

Marketing Responsibilities:

- Develop written and visual promotional content for recruitment and for the final performance

- Outline promotions strategies for targeting various campus groups

 

Promotions Responsibilities:

- Ensure the distribution of promotions via various mediums (online, newsletters, physical posters)

- Liaise with our printing sponsor and graphics designer for the development of promotional materials

 

JOKER

The Joker is essentially the artistic director of the project who will run the workshops and engage audience members during the final performance.

 

Responsibilities:

- Develop the project theme in discussion with team members and interested parties

- Outline a workshop plan based on Theatre for Living's workshop practices and lead participants through exploration of the topic

- Support the team in terms of promotions, constant updates about participants and liaising with external groups

- Direct rehearsals and facilitate the final performance

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The Graphic Designer is the creative individual who designs our visual material - no need to limit yourself just to posters!

 

Responsibilities:

- Work with Marketing/Promotions to create promotional material for participant recruitment and the final performance

- Maintain CTL's online presence through creative means

- Photography/videography skills are an asset! Photos and Videos of the workshop participants are needed throughout the project.
